I was referred to Dr. Kretchmer by my regular dentist after they spotted an unusual spot on my gums. When I initially called the office to set up an appt, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful scheduling me as quickly as possible - not to mention at the location most convenient to me. Dr K. And staff had the most amazing bedside manner and really helped me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation (of not knowing). Again the entire staff working quickly to schedule my procedure and made me feel completely taken care of every step of the way. I could not have asked for a better experience from start to finish. If your looking for top notch expertise and caring professionals, this is the place! If I ever need specialized care again, I’m only calling Tar Heel Periodontics and Implant Dentistry!!
I have a large fear of any type of dental work. And here I was needing some major work on my teeth. Well, to make a long story short, I could not have imagines an experience any better under the circumstances. The staff was EXTREMELY respectful, sensitive and helpful. And Dr. Valentine, well, I could not have asked for anyone better equipped!
Avoid this establishment at all cost. They were completely negligent with my mother's care and should be reported to the state. My mother came here for a periodontal cleaning on 4/17/2019, and was over-medicated, dizzy, and after her procedure she had to lay down for an hour and a half. She was advised to swallow a glucose pill given to her, despite the fact that they had numbed her whole mouth, so she almost choked on it. She threw up the entire pill. After all of this, she was given her car keys and told to drive herself home. She could have been killed or killed someone else driving, she could have fallen asleep at the wheel due to all the medication given to her. This is not the patient care that she deserved after paying for a $2000 procedure. I am absolutely disgusted by this establishment's policies and protocols regarding their patient care and would never recommend them to anyone.
Dr. Kretchner is great... very caring knowledgable staff that just instantly makes you feel comfortable.
Be aware the crazy price and rude and lying front desk. (1) Be aware that you are responsible for all the payments right after appointments, and whether your insurance covers the cost or not is totally your business. Front desk was very rude when I ask if she can check if my insurance can cover the cost. She decribed dental insurance as “bad” and “good” insurance. I feel sorry for people who can’t afford “good” insurance and to be called having “bad” insurance. Where is the “care” part in “healthcare”? Front desk then lied to say even that they are out-of-network for PPO, which is already their “good “ plan, their charge is only higher about 10%. So I went for the appointment since it locates closer. It is totally not true! I called my insurance later, and just for a quarter teeth cleaning, they charged more than $440, while another place I checked only cost $285. The other place got reviewed good online. (2) I decided to go to the other periodontist, so I ask for my record to send to myself. After I send my consent to release my records, I waited and called the front desk for three days. No records emailed to me! I had to ask for leave from work to drive there to get my records. Front desk lied again saying the reason they had not send them yet was because all the records have to be reviewed by dentists before sending them out. Working in healthcare field myself, I knew it is not sure. I told them I always can get my records right away from other dental offices. Then the girl at the front desk immediately offered that she can print out my records and give that to me. If it is true that you have to have a doctor to review records, how come you immediately can print it out without dentist’s review?? I was very unsatisfied about the inconvenience and confusion this created for me, yet not even a single word of apologies from the front desk. (3) they also changed my appointment time half hour later that I did not know, after I specifically choose a certain appointment time. In summary, research on their cost and quality of care carefully if you really want to visit them. Update: one and a half month later, I checked with my dental insurance. The ter heel peridobtists still have not submitted my dental claim to the insurance ?! Even after I asked the front desk when I getting my records, and the front desk said , or lied, “yes that they submitted the Claim”. The amount of trouble this unprofessional front desk created is enough for people to avoid them.
